Saw Chain
- Clean saw chain and check for damage
- Determine and mark the guide tooth
- Tension saw chain slightly tighter
- Select and use the appropriate sharpening aid and file diameter for the chain pitch
- Make sure that the teeth have the same length (count the number of file strokes)
- Turn file slightly at regular intervals to avoid one-sided wear of file
- Check depth gauge spacing and rework if necessary - Use file gauge suitable for chain pitch
- After sharpening, dismantle and clean saw chain - Remove file chips
- Lubricate saw chain intensively
- Carry out maintenance work on the guide bar
- Mount guide bar and saw chain
- Tension saw chain
- Check chain lubrication
Guide bar
- Check guide bar for cracks and damage
- Clean oil inlet hole - Use file gauge
- Clean rail groove - Use filing gauge
- Measure groove depth with the scale on the filing gauge
- Observe minimum groove depth depending on chain pitch
- Check rail webs and deburr if necessary
- Check deflection star for smooth running and distance of saw chain / bar tip
- Turn guide bar - after each chain sharpening and chain change
Chain wheel
- Check depth of run-in marks (check gauge) - replace sprocket if run-in marks are deeper than 0.5 mm
